About WORT

Artifacts - Other

Here's the stuff that doesn't fit into the other categories.

Mug (2003)

One of many excellent mug designs WORT has commissioned in recent years, the 2003 design incorporates the "Freak Show" logo.

Mug (2004)

Ah, WORT mugs, perfect for beverages of many kinds and sorts, particularly the hot, caffeinated variety. The "Radio From the Roots" mug was designed by Spencer Walts.

Mug (2005)

Continuing last year's whole agriculture theme, the 2005 mug is our "Seeds of Change" design, with art by Robin Good.

Mug (2006)

In 2006, we crashed the heck out of the ether. Of course, we've been doing that for more than 30 years. This mug, designed by Sam Johnson at Firecracker Studios, commemorates it in mug form. And look at that pretty cobalt blue glaze...

Water bottle - 2003

Madison is a biking town, and WORT listeners are biking people. Gotta keep hydrated with your WORT water bottle.

Water bottle - 2005

The 2005 water bottle improves on the previous one in several ways: (1) it's bigger; (2) the logo is more durable; (3) it has our awesome "Airwaves and Liberty" logo on it, inspired by the Spanish Civil War artwork and designed by Carol Bracewell.

2004 Magnet

Junior got an A+ on his test? Hang it on the fridge with a WORT magnet. This one uses the same motif as the "Radio from the Roots" design.

2006 Hat

In 2006, we got a bunch of hats made for the first time in six years. These hats are terrific - union made in the USA, made of organic hemp. Durable. Yet stylish.

Button

Nathan found this in a pile of stuff in WORT's basement. Not sure when we had these made, but most likely in the 1980s. The "Stick it in your ear" slogan has become fairly legendary.

Meditation Candle

Stare into the mesmerizing flame and contemplate the splendor of community radio. Incidentally, on the other side of these candles is the Lynda J. Barry designed "Marlys - Do the Funky Chicken" logo.

WORT Beer Tapper

In case you didn't know, Wort is the name for the mash you boil, then ferment to become beer. So it's totally appropriate that we have a WORT beer tapper. Besides, a strangly large number of WORT listeners seem to brew their own beer and/or enjoy good microbrew. Now we just need more people who keep kegs to pledge for these beer tappers...
