The 8 O’Clock Buzz is a one-hour, morning drive-time show that serves as a forum for community members to discuss issues of importance to the community. It features volunteer hosts with a wide array of experience and connection to the community. The show’s format is a mix of music, culture, information, news and interviews.

A Public Affair aims to engage listeners in a conversation on issues of international, national, & local importance with some novelty shows thrown in. The guests range from local activists and scholars to notable national & international figures. The hosts alternate throughout the week as do the focuses and topics. It is a call-in show that airs Monday through Friday from 12:05 to 1:00 pm.

WORT’s locally focused news show Monday through Thursday (6:30-7pm). IOBY presents alternative viewpoints in its news – both in the sources it uses and the stories it covers. IOBY newscasts include local and state news, weather, and regular features. It aims to give underrepresented people a voice.
Beginning at 1:00pm each Friday, two wacky guys broadcast a hilarious blend of political commentary, weird news, and stand-up comedy. Friday afternoon news by, for, and about working people (5:30-6:00). Labor Radio’s mission includes strengthening local unions, increasing the breadth and depth of media coverage on labor issues, and providing for the information needs of the community.
From 7:00-8:00pm each Monday, WORT turns its airwaves over to members of the community. The show opens up radio production to people that have typically not been on the air before. The show is completely different from one week to the next. Guests have included community groups, musicians, aspiring DJs, story-tellers, call-in discussions, radio plays, live bands, fans of niche music, and lots of other topics.
On Tuesdays, En Nuetro Patio airs an hour-long Spanish language news show (7-8pm). Originally a feature on IOBY, En Nuestro Patio has grown into a major news program at WORT. Each week’s show includes local, national, and international news, community announcements, interviews, and music.
Queery features local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender news & information in a news magazine format. Queery covers local and national news affecting Madison’s LGBT community. The show airs on Wednesdays from 7 to 7:30pm. The first show of every month is music.
Radio Literature is a weekly half-hour show devoted to airing poetry, spoken word, fiction, and non-fiction from Wisconsin and the nation. It often features discussion with writers, as well as readings of their work. It is hosted by members of the Radio Literature collective, and airs every Thursday at 7:30pm.
HealthWriters focuses on the health of the body politic. This show aims to empower people by giving background and resources to ensure affordable health care. The show airs on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month, 7:00-7:30pm.
This science show looks at contemporary scientific issues and discoveries in a way that is accessible, understandable and entertaining to the non-scientists of the listening community. The show currently airs on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of every month from 7:00 to 7:30pm. Check out the PNM website.
Each Sunday, 6:00-8:00am, Hmong Radio features international news, state and local news, and community announcements relevant to the Hmong community. It also includes traditional Hmong songs and other music. Hmong Radio is broadcast in the Hmong language.
News and information by and about women in a magazine format. Includes shorter news stories and in-depth features produced by the Her Turn Women’s Collective. The last show of each month is a call-in program. Airs each Sunday, 11:00-11:30am.
The oldest news show at WORT, Third World View covers issues relating to the “Third World” (very broadly-defined) from a critical, anti-imperialist perspective. Third World View newscasts include a half-hour round-up of the week’s international news, followed by a 20-30 minute feature, often a speech or in-depth interview. Third World View airs every Sunday 5-6pm.
WORT’s Arab-American show, Salamat seeks to create bridges of communication, education, entertainment, and understanding of Arabs in general and Arab-Americans in particular. The show includes cultural segments, music, news from the Arab world, trivia quizzes, recipes, and more. Salamat airs every Sunday at 6pm.
The Kiosk is a five minute pre-recorded segment featuring a commentary, this-day-in-history, and a
