Monday Morning World Folk Music Host/Producer

Time Slot: Mondays 9:00am - 12:00pm

In Our Backyard

Local/State News, Monday thru Thursday 6:30-7pm

Production begins by 4pm or earlier. Breaking news and feature reporters are needed for all days, especially Monday and Tuesday. Co-producers and substitute engineers needed for all days.

En Nuestro Patio

Locally produced Spanish language news, Tuesday 7-8pm.

Collective members, especially women are needed for news writing, reporting, producing, and engineering.

Receptionists

Thursdays 4-5pm

Tuesdays, Noon-4pm, January 9th thru March 26th

Substitute receptionists with some weekday availability between 8am & 8pm

Health Writers

Health Care & Politics

Health Writers airs alternate 2nd & 4th Thursdays 7:30-8pm, with weekly meetings, Mondays at 7pm at the station. Health Writers needs collective members to produce features and host call-in shows.

Insurgent Radio Kiosk Readers

A pre-recorded 5 minute segment airing four times each weekday

Readers (by appointment), 1-2 times/month, Sunday, 12-1pm; Wednesday, 7-8pm

Her Turn

News and features by and about women from a feminist perspective airing each Sunday from 11-11:30am. Application for new collective members are currently being accepted. A commitment of one year is required.

Third World View

Critical, anti-imperialist coverage of world news and features; broadcast Sundays 5-6pm. Production takes place on the weekend. News writer/reader and feature producer tasks are rotated among collective members. An engineer and news writers/feature producers are needed.

Perpetual Notion Machine

Science show 1st, 3rd & 5th Thursdays 7:30-8pm.

Collective members are needed for on-air hosting and to engineer, interview guests, compile science news and produce features.

Labor Radio

Airs news by, for, and about working people each Friday, 5:30-6pm.

Production meetings, Tuesday, 7am at Willaby’s Café, 1351 Williamson St. Collective members are needed to do reporting, engineering, on-air hosting and producing.

Radio Literature

Airs Thursday, 7-7:30pm, featuring poetry, fiction, and non-fiction from Wisconsin and beyond. Radio Lit needs 1-2 new volunteers to host one show every 4-6 weeks. All are welcome, but a Spanish-speaking host would be especially appreciated.

Music Department Assistants

Weekdays, daytime and evening tasks working with databases, digital music, local promoters, record labels and in our music library.

Music Library Crew Coordinator: Currently Thursday afternoons noon-4pm, working with volunteers to organize and update our CD and vinyl libraries.

The Promos

Tuesdays 7-10pm Get on-air and production experience with a multi-disciplinary team incorporating musical knowledge and skills in research, script writing, music selection, voice-over, engineering and audio editing with computer software. (The Promos are especially in need of women to record voice overs!)

Outreach Tabling

2-3 hour shifts at numerous events, particularly during the Summer, including farmers markets, neighborhood festivals, etc.

Committee Participation

Programming; Engineering; Events; PROM (Public Relations, Outreach & Marketing); Sister Radio (Radio Victoria in El Salvador)

Community Advisory Board

WORT's Community Advisory Board or CAB is comprised of community members interested in the diverse needs and interests of WORT's listening audience. The CAB advises WORT's Board of Directors as to how the station's programming and policies address community needs.

The CAB meets 6-8 times per year and also helps with special events such as pledge drives, outreach and fund raisers. If you are not already a WORT volunteer, joining the CAB is a great way to get involved! Women, minorities and people of all ages are encouraged to apply.
